Dorset Buttons - a variation on a theme of blanket stitch

These can also be done on smaller rings, or even Indian bangle sized rings if you want to experiment.

Embroidery threads, cotton perle and stranded cottons, any colour + variegated if available.
Thicker threads can be used.

Tapestry needle (large eye, rounded point) and Chenille needle (large eye, pointed)
Embroidery scissors and thimble if used.

Beads, et., to decorate.
Badge or brooch pins for a slightly different project.

Dandelion Mini Workshop – Requirement List – May 2015
A very simple little workshop, you will be provided with a full instruction sheet, white perle threads and tulle.
All you need to bring is a piece of dark fabric of your choice, medium to large eyed needles suitable to the fabric (crewel, tapestry or chenille) scissors, a few pins, and a hoop if you like to work with one.

Fairy Tales and Nursery Rhymes Exhibition

Dear Chairs, Secretaries and IT representatives.
I would be very grateful if you could circulate to your members notice of our Kickstart programme exhibition this year.  Attached is a poster for your noticeboard.

The exhibition is to be held at Sudbury Hall, Derbyshire from 20 May 2015 until 12 July and at Charnwood Museum Loughborough from 19 July to 5 September 2015.

Sudbury Hall is open Wednesday to Sunday 1.00pm to 5.00pm. (the Museum of Childhood, restaurant and the grounds are open every day from 10.30am.)

Charnwood Museum in Loughborough is open every day except Monday from 10.00  to 3.00pmand Sunday from 12.00 - to 3.00pm

I have another request to go to your members..... we need stewards for Sudbury Hall.  This in 36 afternoons - From Wednesday to Sunday during our exhibition plus Bank Holiday Monday at Spring Bank Holiday.  Stewards will get free entry into the Hall (not the Museum of Childhood) so it would be ideal if two persons/friends volunteer to do an afternoon.   Duties are to sit in the Billiard room looking decorative and answer questions about the display to members of the public.

I'd be very grateful if members who are interested in being a steward at Sudbury contact me asap.

Many regards
Deborah Phillpott <debphillpott@virginmedia.com>

PROGRAM 2015

What a fantastic March meeting we had. We had such fabulous inspiration and
guidance from Lorraine. I am really looking forward to seeing what you have all made as a
result of our workshop.

At our committee meeting after the workshop we discussed the length of our
meeting day and decided that we may all benefit from a longer afternoon. Therefore, our
meetings will be from 10.00am-3.00pm for a trial period and we will structure
the afternoon as follows.

After lunch we would like members to share their work, ideas and inspiration in a
show and tell session. I know I always love time to admire the work other members have
been working on. We would then exchange travelling books and work on stitch journals and
our personal projects. Or you could continue working on ideas from the morning.

Here is our programme for the rest of the year.
I have created a perma link on right side of blog page
